Paint-your-own cookie kits are great fun for all kiddos. Each child gets (2) pre-iced cookies with white royal icing, their own edible paint palette, their own disposable brush, and a window pane box to take their treats home in. Just add water to your brush, dip in the edible coloring, and paint! I recommend this style party for kids ages 2-6, though it’s a truly entertaining activity for all ages.
Happy New Year! After nearly a month away from the kitchen (in full force anyways), we will be back in the kitchen baking and decorating cookies this week. I won't lie, the time away was necessary. Working a full time job in addition to running this business is no joke and this fall and holiday season really put me to the test. I was so happy (and relieved) to take that time away as a chance to take a deep breath and reflect on the last year. To think about where we succeeded, areas we need to improve, and most importantly what Cookies by Kate will be in 2018. I am sad to say we will not be able to replicate the successes of 2017, but the reason why is…
It’s mid-December, and boy, we know it! In the last two weeks we’ve churned out THOUSANDS of holiday cookies. One more week of the madness before some much needed rest and relaxation. Thank you to all of our clients who are enjoying Cookies by Kate with friends and family this holiday season!
The crisp air has hit Madison, which finally means FALL! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays so I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to make this year. I’ve been toying with the idea of a turkey cookie set, and yep, I think it’s decided! In need of a fun, new dessert for your Thanksgiving dinner? This set is $60 and serves up to 20 people. We’re accepting pre-orders now!
These rainbow trout wedding favors were ordered by family members of the bride as a surprise to the bride and groom on their wedding day for all of their guests. Why rainbow trout, you ask? The couple's last name is Trout. Loved helping out with this fun surprise!
I came to Madison in 2007 to begin college at UW-Madison and fell in love with this city. Wearing red on game day, strolling around the square for the Farmers' Market, running the Arboretum loop, sipping beers at the Terrace. These are a few of my favorite things. ♥
A few weeks ago, I made cookies for Kallidoscope Photography to help her surprise her husband with a hot air balloon ride in California on his birthday. Check out her blog about the trip and her amazing photos! [caption id="attachment_903" align="alignnone" width="790"] Photo Credit: Kallidoscope Photography (Sun Prairie, WI)[/caption]
Recently, I moved to a new apartment and as I was boxing up my cookie cutters I thought, "I wonder how many I actually have." I posted on Facebook and Instagram and asked my followers to enter a guess and whoever was closest without going over would win a free dozen of cookies. Well, I counted and had an impressive 261 cookie cutters! A new friend who follows on both Instagram and Facebook and who is a local photographer, Astrid Thomson, won with a guess of 245.

Whenever I have free time (ha!), I spend my time running and training for half and full marathons. I started running with the Fleet Feet crew, and eventually learned about strength training with Orange Shoe Personal Fitness. After our move to the north/east side this spring, I sadly had to say goodbye to my Orange Shoe family, but not without bringing in cookies.
On April 23rd, we were at the Love, Madison Weddings Spring Bridal Show. I love doing these small, intimate shows because I get a chance to talk with each couple about their special day without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. This was my first event as a featured vendor for Love, Madison Weddings and it reminded me why I am thrilled to be working with LMW: collaboration! Not only did I meet so many great couples, but I also had the opportunity to chat with other local vendors.
We are excited to announce that we are now a featured expert in both the "Cakes & Bakeries" and "Gifts & Favors" categories on Love, Madison Weddings. We are thrilled to be working with Jodi and Chad at LMW and all of the other amazing vendors affiliated with them!

Craft Bar project menu will also be available for anyone who needs a creative break 😉 For more information about this month's Work Day, check out their website.
We love our furry friends and we were absolutely pleased to contribute our cookies to the 2017 Toto's Gala benefiting the Dane County Humane Society!
