Happy New Year!
After nearly a month away from the kitchen (in full force anyways), we will be back in the kitchen baking and decorating cookies this week. I won’t lie, the time away was necessary. Working a full time job in addition to running this business is no joke and this fall and holiday season really put me to the test.
I was so happy (and relieved) to take that time away as a chance to take a deep breath and reflect on the last year. To think about where we succeeded, areas we need to improve, and most importantly what Cookies by Kate will be in 2018. I am sad to say we will not be able to replicate the successes of 2017, but the reason why is oh, so sweet.
Around the time that we celebrated the one year anniversary of Cookies by Kate, we also celebrated a positive pregnancy test. This is our first child and we are over the moon about its arrival in June! With all of the planning of a new family member, I also took a lot of time to think about how we would transition with Cookies as well.
To be completely honest, I don’t know the full extent of what this means for Cookies by Kate, but I do know a couple of things for sure:
- My last cookie day will be April 30th. After April 30th, I will be taking an indefinite amount of time off from cookies. I may take orders here and there in the fall of 2018, or I might not. This is our first child! I have no idea what I will or will not be capable of, but I’ll certainly keep everyone posted.
- At the very least, I am planning to start up cookie decorating classes so I can share my knowledge with others. Dates and locations TBD, but likely will start December 2018.
I want to take a moment to thank you for your support in the Cookies by Kate adventure and your support in this new one as well! It has been a pleasure making and decorating cookies, and I hope in the future we can continue to celebrate the decorated cookie together! But for now, I look forward to working with you until April 30th. 🙂
All my best,
